Ruth Ginsberg-Place, photographer, printmaker and book artist, works in a studio at the Boston Center for the Arts. In her prints and photographs she expresses aspects of our natural world from cosmic events like an eclipse to a portrait of an individual flower. Even at a time in which its continuance is threatened, Ruth celebrates the glorious variety of natural forms. In her daily walks to urban parks and ponds she observes and sketches then returns to the studio to abstract, simplify and invent. Her latest commissioned work was for the Biomedical Center at Johns Hopkins University. Some public collections that include her work are: The Art Institute of Chicago, The Boston Public Library, and Congregation Beth El, Sudbury, MA. After receiving her MFA from Syracuse University Ruth headed the Fiber Arts area in the Art Department of Southern Illinois University, later teaching part-time at Wheelock College and Wentworth Institute.
